What Launched Sylvia into the Advising/Coaching Business?

I wanted to own a business for several years and always found reasons not to do it. Of course those reasons were really only excuses that I'd rationalized as valid. Then I got sick with a condition that manifested in different, perplexing ways. Continuing to work as an executive became more and more difficult. There were days when I thought I may need to leave. I lacked energy, ability to project my voice, and ability to breathe normally. This struggle continued for a very long time. I saw many doctors and consented to many tests. The process was maddening. I received few definitive answers, and I was getting worse.

One day I woke up and realized that I was not particularly short of breath or fatigued. Over the course of a few weeks I noticed that I could speak a string of sentences without stopping after a few words. I cannot tell you how relieved and happy I felt. Suddenly the sun looked brighter, the flowers more beautiful, my work more meaningful. As the months went by, I felt like a new person who had unloaded a very heavy bag from her shoulders. As a result of the physical improvements, I knew that I needed to make a major change. I needed to leave my current job and take the risks associated with starting my own business. Risks I'd been avoiding for a long time . . . so I took the plunge and found the waters most inviting from the first day. I know that working with executives in my own way is what I must do.
